A benefit fish fry and grilled chicken meal will be held at Rosser Post, located at 1370 Highway 219 in Huntingdon. All proceeds will benefit the Rosser Amish School. Fish and grilled chicken, hush puppies, French fries, slaw, white beans, and homemade ice cream will be sold. Adults eat for $10 and children 5-12 eat for $6. Children four and under eat free. An acorn grill will be raffled off and homemade baked goods will be available. Free games of cornhole will also be available.
The Carroll County Martin Luther King program will be held at Webb School in McKenzie on January 16 at 9:30 a.m. The speaker will be Ike Gilbert of Huntingdon. Gilbert is the National President over Webb Alumni Association. For more information, call 731-697-5468.
The Carroll County Humane Society will hold a volunteer orientation on Monday, January 16 at the Park Theater in McKenzie at 6 p.m. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, you will learn about all the different areas that help is needed including hands on at the shelter, transporting animals to the vet, cleaning PetSmart cat kennels in Jackson, fostering, paperwork, helping with fundraising, and others. CCHS is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization with no funding from any city or county. If you have ever considered volunteering, this meeting is for you and attendance will in no way obligate you. Relay for Life will host a gospel singing January 21 at 6 p.m. at Huntingdon First Pentecostal Church, featuring Dr. Kevin Wheatley, Meggs Trio, Huntingdon First Pentecostal Church Choir, Dr. Toby Hampton, Clark Street Baptist Church Choir, Howell Wayne Todd, and Bethany Ellis. There will be no admission, but a love offering will be taken.
West Carroll Primary School will hold their awards day January 27. Students will receive an invitation if parents should attend. Pre-k through kindergarten will be from 1-1:30 p.m., first from 1:30-2, and second grade 2-2:30.
The Carroll County Humane Society will host a soup supper on January 28 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Carroll Bank & Trust community room in Huntingdon. All you can eat delicious soups, drinks, bread, and desserts with entertainment by progressive bluegrass band, Cherry Avenue Band. Eat in or carry out. Adults $7 and $3 for children under 10. Bring your own jar and purchase a quart of soup to go for $5.
New Hope Methodist Church will host their Faith, Family, and Fun Night at the Vale Community Center January 28 from 6-9 p.m. Games and fellowship will be at 6 p.m., with the movie and light concessions from 7-9 p.m. Admission is free and kids must be accompanied by an adult.
