  • Girls Day Out: Health and Wellness Expo

    Baptist Memorial Hospital will host Girls Day Out, a free health and wellness expo for women, October 13 from 7-11 a.m. in the lobby of the R.B. Wilson Medical Center. Free health screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, bone density, and more. A 10% discount on screening mammograms during October will be offered. Professionals to answer health care questions and vendors will also be present.

    The Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center is offering a free 13 week parenting program at the Carroll County office, located at 50 Stone Ridge Cove. The completion of this class qualifies the participant for Christmas assistance. Deadline to sign up for the class in order to be eligible for this assistance is October 20.     Dilday-Carter Funeral Home and Huntingdon Fire & Rescue members will hold a grilled hamburger and hotdog lunch on Saturday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held at the Cash Savers Supermarket on East Main Street in Huntingdon. Proceeds will go to assist Tim Boyd who was critically injured in a car crash on October 10. He remains in ICU at the MED at Memphis. Tim, an employee at Dilday-Carter, has injuries that have left him paralyzed from the chest down. Grilled hamburgers or jumbo hotdogs will be available for $4 each or a meal with chips, drink and dessert for $6.

  • A Taste of Mount Nebo

    The Carroll County Humane Society will host a Halloween bingo party and costume contest October 29 at the Carroll Bank & Trust Community Building in Huntingdon from 6-9 p.m. Concessions will be available, as well as bingo prizes, costume contests for pets, children, and adults. Admission is free. Bingo cards are fifty cents per card. The bingo grand prize winner will receive a $100 Walmart gift card. All proceeds go to CCHS to help care for the dogs and cats in their care.
