SAFE — Central’s Olivia Lowry slides home safe during the Lady Tigers’ home-field loss to the West Carroll Lady War Eagles last week.

The West Carroll High School Lady War Eagles took off for an early lead and stayed ahead through the entire game during their 10-4 win over the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School Lady Tigers April 4 at Central.

West Carroll’s Katelyn Cherry opened up the game with a triple, and additional base hits by Micayla Hart, Ashley Barlow, and Kasey Stafford put three runs on the board at the top of the first inning.

The Lady Tigers replied with one run at the bottom of the first as Olivia Lowry made it home a sacrifice by Tiffani Hughey.

The score held at 3-1 until the top of the third inning when West Carroll cranked out seven runs after loading the bases on a walk by Shelby Browning and singles by Amelia McAfee and Kasey Stafford.

A two-run homer by Kaitlin Pigue, singles Cherry and Hart, and a walk and home plate steal by Alexiua Houston rounded out the third for West Carroll.

Central tacked on three runs at the bottom of the third, cutting West Carroll’s lead to 10-4.

As it turned out, that score held through to game’s end as both teams failed to produce runs in the remaining four innings.
