Huntingdon Mayor Dale Kelley and three of the four council members elected in Tuesday’s election for four-year terms were sworn in Wednesday morning by town judge Marsha Johns.
Kelley is beginning his seventh term as mayor.
Tim Tucker, beginning his eighth term; and Charles Hodges and Carl Byars, beginning their second terms, took the oath of office.
Nina Smothers, who will beginning her third term, was not present and will be sworn in at the Nov. 22 council meeting.
“It’s a great town to be serving in city government and to work together to make good things happen for the town of Huntingdon,” he said. “We have a great group of leaders and department heads who do a good job. Our employees are dedicated and I can’t say enough good things about them.”
He also said there had never been a lot of opposition in town elections.
“That says a lot about the leadership and how everyone works together,” said the mayor.
