One local man was killed and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Highway 22 North in Huntingdon.
Stanley D. Jamison, 49, of Huntingdon was declared dead at the scene by Carroll County Coroner Dr. Lee Carter.
Tim Boyd of Huntingdon was severely injured in the crash. He was transported by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Huntingdon, but he was then airlifted from BMH to The Med in Memphis.
Further information regarding Boyd’s condition was not available at press time.
According to Investigator Johnny Hill with the Huntingdon Police Department, Boyd was traveling northbound on 22 shortly before 5 p.m. in a Ford F-350 dually truck belonging to Dilday-Carter Funeral Home pulling a backhoe on a trailer behind the truck.
About a quarter mile north of the 22 Bypass, Jamison, who was driving a silver Chrysler Concorde, apparently pulled out from a connecting side road directly into the path of the truck Boyd was driving. The dually truck struck the car on the driver’s side, sending the car across the grassy median and into the southbound lanes.
The truck and trailer both flipped over and came to rest upside down with the truck halfway in the left southbound lane and the trailer in the grassy median.
Boyd had to be extricated from the cab of the truck by emergency personnel.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
