Huntingdon High School senior Grant Hilliard made his last year of golf on the high school level a memorable one as he shot a round of 73 to claim the District 13 A-AA individual tournament title at The Farms in Dyersburg.

A four-year golfer at HHS, Hilliard beat Dyersburg freshman Cole Bevins by two strokes.

Hilliard had three birdies, as he entered his final two holes at one under par before having bogeys on his final two holes.

Hilliard’s 73 was eight strokes better than his score last year as he took the fourth spot individually to barely qualify for the region tournament. This year he left no doubt as his individual title at The Farms as he moves on to region play.

For the season Hilliard boasts a nine-hole average of 36.7 with six medalist wins.

McKenzie’s golf team finished third to advance to the Region 7 A-AA tournament.

A total of 40 golfers from 10 different high schools competed in the September 19 event.
